It is important, therefore, that you, the affected parent, work closely with officials to improve the chances that you can be reunited with your child. You must be directly involved in the search and the anticipated return.


The Klaas Kids Foundation has created a recovery "template outlining and explaining critical elements of a kidnap recovery effort and strategies that promote inter-agency cooperation and encourage community involvement. The ideas and strategies laid forth in this workbook are for the extreme cases where it is confirmed or highly likely that a predatory abduction has occurred or there is evidence that the child is in immediate danger of serious bodily harm or death".

The Laura Recovery Center Manual: The LRC Manual describes how to conduct a massive citizen directed effort to recover a missing child. It is expected that the recovery effort will be carried out in full cooperation with the presiding local law enforcement agency.

Protect The Children: Parental Guidelines in Case Your Child Is Missing. This guide, with several good tips and suggestions, was put out by the Illinois State Police. Even though it is a State guide, the information is applicable to all State and all parents.
