WHY HAVE WE CREATED THIS WEB SITE?

SINCE 1991 The CMC and it's photo partners have distributed over 2 billion images of missing children in elementary schools throughout the USA. Our success rate to date is significant. Millions of images of approximately 1500 children have bombarded our nations' elementary schools and, through this method, we have assisted in the recovery of over 1200 missing children!

As you'll note in our Mission Statement, we are a Parent Advocacy group and we serve as an information clearinghouse. This web site is created as a resource for parents of missing children as well as lawyers, other non-profits and non-governmental agencies, and the agencies that must deal with child abduction. As both an educational and informational resource, our site addresses many of the weaknesses in our national and international child-find systems. We link to almost one hundred non-profit child-find organizations and Non Governmental Organizations (NGO's) throughout the world. Our site will be continually evolving as we receive more information.

Many non-profit child-find organizations have been created to assist parents in the search and recovery of their children, as well as work in the areas of safety and prevention. Use this web site as a tool to contact these child-find groups and us so that our system of governmental and non-profit groups can help you with your child-find needs.

Our section on "Missing Children" includes organizations that have the largest listings of missing and abducted children. We hope other organizations and individuals will download pictures found on these sites and distribute them throughout their communities.

While The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) provides many of the photos we distribute, there are many missing children that NCMEC has not provided for. Working with the Children's Help Center in Tampa, Florida, we will place photos sent to us by the Help Center on our site as soon as we receive them. Our objective is to make ALL pictures of missing and abducted children available as soon as possible.

We believe that through the sites and phone numbers of those listed, you will find people very helpful in getting you the information you need.

As Parent Advocates, we have spent the last two years working with parents of missing children and child-find groups to create the Parents Handbook, the bible of what to do, who to contact and how to deal with the emotions of searching for a lost child. This resource will be available free to anyone in need by the summer of 2001.

Our belief is that the parents of missing and abducted children have a right to be involved in the search for their own children. This site will help parents better understand what they will be up against was well as how to work within the system. Our site is open to anyone and all information is available for downloading. We ask that everyone honor any copyright restrictions as well as copy restrictions of the different sites we link to.
